Thumbnail image for ETRONIKALogo.jpg
Almost all banking today is being done in digital space. Why not communicate with computers in a natural way, as we do in the real world?

Imagine a financial application that recognizes your face, congratulates you, analyzes your voice to identify you, and navigates you in online banking. You choose what is most convenient for you at that time: using your voice, gestures, keyboard, or a mix of all the approaches. You are smiling.

Motion and speech belong to the game world or laboratory geeks-- not to online banking solutions that refer to a serious, unshakable, respectable realm. ETRONIKA wants to challenge this point of view by introducing a new UX approach to financial online services.

Service2MediaLogo.jpg
Service2Media and Rabobank will introduce mobile payments via a banking app for all webshops. Customers of Rabobank that have installed the Rabobank Mobile Banking app can now pay for their mobile purchases as easily as their online purchases by using a mobile version of the online payment method IDEAL

The new mobile IDEAL payment is facilitated by starting the Rabobank Banking app on an iPhone once a payment request is issued on the merchant's mobile site. The user then authorizes the transaction in the app with his account number and access code before being redirected to the merchant's mobile site. Mobile banking is now possible without an e-reader as long as the balancing account is known.

ValidSoftLogo.jpg
Securing M-Banking

The advancement of technology is making our lives easier. Mobile banking, or m-banking, is here and with 800,000,000 smartphones already in circulation globally, it is going to grow. But how do we make m-banking safe and practical to use? You can't hold your smartphone in one hand and your bank secure key in the other when walking down the street - that's not "making our lives easier".

A much simpler solution is using out-of-band, real-time, multi-factor authentication and transaction verification. ValidSoft will demonstrate how its products can do just that.

Innovation type: Identity, payments, security

Thumbnail image for WiproLogo.jpg
One of the primary tools direct sales agents need is a tablet variant of the unified desktop. Wipro has developed a customer acquisition framework on a tablet-based device, which is a step in this direction.

CAMS on Tablet leverages mobile, analytics and intelligent processes for on-the-go personalized offers and application capture. The solution is also relevant in next generation bank branches where a differentiated environment is created for HNI customers.

FiservLogo9.1.11.pngOn Tuesday, Wisconsin-based Fiserv introduced Mobiliti, a mobile banking, alerting, and payments suite. This new platform supports a wide array of mobile banking functionality that includes remote deposit capture, bill payment, balance inquiry, and more.

"Mobiliti unites the functionality of Mobile Money from Fiserv and BankAnywhere from the recently acquired M-Com within a single product suite, and will replace both of those product brands. Mobiliti is available in multiple distinct versions tailored for use by financial institutions of varying sizes within both the United States and international markets."

Considering the current environment, the release of this product is well-planned:

"Of nearly 2,000 clients polled during the Fiserv Focus client conference in April 2011, more than 74% indicated that they planned to increase their investments in mobile financial services during the next 12 months."

  • The deal is expected to be complete by September 2011.CashEdge Logo2.jpg
  • The all-cash $465 million purchase price is more than six times CashEdge's projected 2011 revenues of $75 million.
  • Fiserv's last large acquisition was CheckFree for $4.4 billion in 2007, which was 4.5 times its expected revenue. In comparison, Jack Henry & Associates' $300 million purchase of iPay Technologies last year was 5.5 times iPay's revenue.fiserv logo.2.jpg
  • The expected consolidation of CashEdge's Popmoney P2P transfer service (200 signed clients) and Fiserv's ZashPay (700 signed clients) will create a stronger competitor to bank-owned clearXchange.

  • They had been acquired.
  • They were no longer available online.
  • They were not covered by Compete for various reasons (including some that were not U.S. domestic companies).
  • The number of unique visits was too small to be considered accurate.
  • They were subdomains of larger websites.

ZashPay from Fiserv Powers Up

zashpay-logo.gif
ZashPay, Fiserv's person-to-person (P2P) payments service, officially launched July 21, 2010, but debuted with FinovateSpring 2010 (see video here).

ZashPay's P2P payments can be made from one individual to another with the recipient's name and either their email address, or mobile phone number.

ZashPay integrates with Fiserv's online bill payment system already in use by 3,100 financial institutions representing 16 million customers. Of those companies, 250 have already added the service. A user need not belong to a bank carrying the ZashPay service.
Users can also send or receive money from the ZashPay.com website, but if either party's bank uses the ZashPay service, a prompt directs them to complete the transaction at their bank's website instead.

San Diego County Credit Union, America First Credit Unions and The Golden 1 Credit Union were among the first to take the service live.

"The average transaction dollar amount ranges from $100-$300, but we've seen transactions as small as a few dollars and as large as several thousand," says Ann Cave, senior PR manager in electronic banking at Fiserv. While not providing any specific transaction-volume numbers, Cave reports that transactions continue to grow each week.

There is never a fee to receive money using ZashPay online or through a financial institution, but senders are charged a ZashPay fee of seventy-five cents per payment, and their financial institution may charge an additional ACH charge to those sending money, which is typically under fifty cents, according to Fiserv. The service is available only in the United States at this time. Residents of all states can receive money, but sending money is not yet available in all states.

For mobile users, a ZashPay mobile app is in the works, but a release date has not been provided yet.
